Wings of Compassion
In the poem, teaching my Mother how to give birth, British Poet Warsan Shire writes that no one leaves home unless home is the mouth of a shark. This analogy describes a situation a number of pregnant teenage girls in Kenya find themselves in when they are forced to flee their homes to avoid stigma and also for their own safety. Many of these girls have nowhere to run to. A couple in Kiambu County has attempted to offer a solution by providing a safe haven for the girls. Sarafina Robi reports.
