Farmers in Vihiga county will benefit from a programme aimed at improving the quality of dairy animals in the county. This is after the county launched the programme in partnership with a German organization. The German organization Welt Hunger Hilf, will provide technology for improving local breeds through artificial insemination, replacing them with breeds that have higher production. Vihiga governor Wilber Ottichilo said that the project will have help provide job opportunities for the youth and provide increased income for many farmers in the county. The project will also aim at establishing milk collection centres and milk processing unit, and cost an estimated 130 million shillings.
