Turkana professionals oppose proposed new Petroleum bill

The petroleum act 2015 which has halved the amount of revenue to be distributed to local communities once commercial oil production starts, is setting up a potential dispute with residents of its economically deprived northern Turkana region.
The petroleum exploration, development and production bill expected to be presented to lawmakers tomorrow, proposes giving communities 5% of revenue, instead of the 10% stipulated in an earlier amended draft.
A group of Turkana professionals have however refuted the bill saying its not only  unfair to them but also other places where oil might be drilled in Kenya.
