The business community in Kapenguria town, West Pokot County have protested over prolonged closure of Makutano bus park and shops surrounding it.

They faulted the County Government over delay to reopen the bus stage and shops that were closed almost a year now without any explanation.

They said that they are reading malice in the delay to reopen the shops and bus park as they see no plans after they were left in the darkness wondering why it has taken too long for the county government to reopen the bus park after it was painted.

The West Pokot County government shut up all the business premises and bus stage to renovate and do some changes alleging cartels benefiting from more than 100 shops that were constructed by the defunct local authority.

This comes after a public outcry from business people in Makutano township accusing the County government for evacuating them from their business premises.
