The National Tax Payers Association wants the National Assembly to consider revising upwards excise duty on tobacco products from the current 54 percent to the World Health Organization recommended 70 percent in the Finance Bill 2019. National Coordinator Irene Otieno says the money raised will help plug the budget deficit. This is also projected to aid in consumption decline among users and discourage counterfeits.
