Becoming a Moran in the Samburu community is not for the faint hearted. Prior to the traditional circumcision ceremony, the initiates embark on an grueling four-day trek from Ngilai village to Lolenyok hill to harvest gum. Their travails in the wilderness of the expansive county tests their resilience and bravery to prepare them for the challenges adults face in everyday life with the added responsibility of protecting their community.
