Tea export delays: KPA denies prioritising imports over exports at port

Kenya Ports Authority has assured tea traders and other exporters that delays experienced in the last two weeks in exporting their cargo will be dealt with, saying bad weather had slowed down operations
KPA’s Managing Director Catherine Mturi-Wairi met stakeholders including the East African Tea Traders Association and representatives from shipping lines on Monday, and said the situation will be normalised in three days’ time. Wairi said that heavy rains had affected loading of vessels by among other things hindering visibility, a move that would have led to contamination of food/grain related exports.
