Tangatanga and Kieleweke are promoting tribalism – Muthama

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to declare their interest in the proposed changes to the constitution.
Addressing mourners Friday afternoon at a funeral ceremony in Tala, Machakos County, the outspoken politician said it was clear that both President Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga have vested interests in the proposed amendment to the law which creates the position of powerful Prime Minister and ceremonial President.
Muthama warned that any effort to amend the constitution through a referendum aimed at creating positions for few individuals will be an exercise in futility as such a move will not solve the menace of polarization among Kenya’s 45 ethnic entities.
“I can say here without fear of contradiction that what Uhuru and Raila are pushing for is aimed at creating positions of Prime Minister and Presidency for none other than themselves and if that is the route they want to take this country, I am telling them that it will not be fair to Kenyans,” said Muthama.
