In 2015, the county government of Nyeri spent 60 million shillings in the construction of a fish processing factory, which was intended to encourage farmers to go into fish farming as a commercial venture. But today, two years on, the factory lays idle, processing only four fish per day. In fact, the factory has received and processed only 758 kilos of fish since it was commissioned, against a capacity of 10 tonnes per week. So was the Wamagana Fish Factory a miscalculation?
