MPs fault Treasury over non-payment of funds owed to political parties

Members of the National Assembly have put Treasury cabinet secretary, Henry Rotich, on the spot, for failing to submit not less than 0.3 percent of revenue collected by the national government to the political parties fund. According to a report by a special funds account committee tabled before the house, from the financial years of 2014/2015 to 2017/2018, Treasury has only been releasing between 360 million shillings to 370 million shillings per financial year to the political parties fund. The legislators blamed Treasury for defaulting billions of shillings meant for the fund, a move that is crippling the mandates and activities of political parties in the country.
