Mistrust among EAC clearance agencies continues to cause delays at border points, piling up costs for firms in regional trade, a senior Kenya Revenue Authority official said on Thursday.
Commissioner in charge of Kenya Revenue School of Administration and chairperson of Regional Training Centre Beatrice Memo said bureaucracies by some of the agencies in partner East African Community’s states was frustrating traders.
She said goods made in Kenya are sometimes subjected to double checks on rules of origin with some agencies, some which are not within trade chain, demanding to visit factories to ascertain they originated from Kenya.
