Meteorological department announces rains to persist till June as Nyando residents move
The meteorological department forecasts a continuing rainy season well into May and June. There have been reports of heavy rains in parts of the country from the beginning of the year. Over the weekend, in Nyando, residents were advised to move to higher grounds after river Nyando burst its banks even as Siaya residents were warned of the rising levels of river Nzoia. Elsewhere along the Mai Mahiu-Limuru road, transport was paralyzed after trucks stalled following the heavy rains. And at Suswa the floods cut off the Mai Mahiu-Narok road.
