But even as Kenya awaits the arrival of foreign doctors, the Medical Association of Tanzania says the country cannot send doctors to Kenya because they do not have enough. The Association says it was not consulted in the arrangement to have 500 Doctors dispatched to Kenya for work.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, the association is highlighting a report published by the Task Sharing Policy Guidelines for Health Sector Services in Tanzania which revealed that the Tanzania health sector has a shortage of 2,430 Doctors which is equivalent to 75%. According to the statement Tanzania needs more doctors than Kenya.
The association insists that all Kenyan Doctors should be employed first before any foreigners are given the opportunity. It has also faulted the two governments for not including the association on the decision to deploy the Doctors.
