The government apply the rules of origin to stop importation of milk from Uganda that have flooded the market causing an outcry from processors and farmers over the cheap dairy products. There have been reports that some processors in Uganda were importing powder milk then processing it into long life milk that was finding its way into the Kenyan market. Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya says the milk will remain duty free if it is from Uganda but taxes would be imposed if its raw material is imported.
