Journalists assaulted in Eastleigh over land dispute

A Freelance journalist was assaulted and his camera damaged during a violent confrontation between a private developer and some residents over a disputed foot path in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The residents, led by Carlifonia Ward MCA Abdullahi Mohammed Obama, had gone to pull down a wall constructed by the said developer which they claim was initially situated on a pedestrian path. But the residents were confronted by the private developer who was armed and threatened to shoot anyone who dared to set foot on the disputed piece of land. The residents also claim that the developer enjoys Police protection from officers attached to the area police station as well as Nairobi County Government senior officers.
