The Federation of Kenya Employers has called on the government to strike a balance between the pressure on the cost of living for workers and the business environment for corporates, before making an announcement on whether to increase minimum wages on Labour Day. FKE says the cost of living often gets greater attention, calling for innovative ways to address the issue such as having tax rebates. This, it says, will enable employers not to pass on costs to the people if business environment is difficult. The President recently hinted that workers would get wage increases this year, after a two-year dry spell.
