Earnings for tea farmers under Kenya Tea Development Agency have dropped to an average of 10.4 percent. The farmers earned 52 shillings and 51 cents for a kilo of tea which is attributed to higher cost of production and depressed prices in the last quarter. This is despite green leaf production increasing to 1.18 billion kilogrammes from 976.78 million kilos in 2017.
