Over 10,000 farmers from Uyoma North in Siaya are set to benefit from a multi-million White Sorghum project launched by the East Africa Breweries.
Kenya Breweries, Kisumu branch supplied white sorghum seedlings to hundreds of farmers who have abandoned cotton farming and turned to commercial white sorghum farming. Speaking during the launch, the General manager Kenya Breweries, Kisumu branch Lawrence Maina said farmers will start benefiting in a span of three months after harvesting. He said white Sorghum farming will serve as an alternative cash crop for the locals.
