Desert locust menace: Kenya’s worst invasion in 70 years

Over 19 million people in East Africa are already suffering from a food crisis, with the situation expected to get worse after swarms of locusts from the middle east descended on the region in December last year.
According to the food and agriculture organization of the united nations, the desert locusts could spread to Uganda and South Sudan, further worsening the situation.
This even as the united nations has announced the release of 1.9 billion shillings to combat the infestation in East Africa.
